MAIN PROJECTS
Environmental Impact Assessment for Construction of a New Highway
The three main impacts of a highway in the area of interest were evaluated: habitat loss and alteration of environmental quality, direct mortality due to roadkill, and loss of wildlife connectivity. For each of these impacts, we combined the analysis of data generated from roadkill monitoring, mammal telemetry, autonomous recorders, camera traps, among others. These impacts were spatially analyzed, identifying the areas with the highest probability of impact occurrence within the system. Maps were used to assess the alternative routes for the new highway. This represents the most significant work of the company to date, utilizing cutting-edge methods to assist decision-making for a new enterprise. Access here.

We conducted an analysis of areas with the highest roadkill occurence and evaluated the use and effectiveness of mitigation measures implemented on two railways in northern Brazil. The analyses are based on robust sampling designs (BACI) and highlight priority locations for mitigation or adaptation of existing measures through adaptive management.

Training courses on sampling design and data analysis to evaluate wildlife mortality and mitigation measures on transport infrastructure. In 2019, an in person course featured the participation of 30 attendees, including environmental consultants, concessionaires' directors, academics, and environmental analysts from state and national agencies. In 2021, an online course made to 30 attendees from the São Paulo environmental analysts.
